How does a weapons Piercing value work?
That is the value of how much of the damage is unpreventable. This means that if your target is wearing armor, or has some other active ability that prevents damage, a portion of your damage equal to the Piercing Value will go through the armor regardless. For example, you do an attack equal to 4 damage, with 1 of it being Piercing, and your opponent has a damage prevention of 4. To do Piercing Damage, simply split up your total damage into what is Piercing, and what is not. Since your attack has a Piercing of 1, subtract that from the total damage, so your damage is 1 Piercing, 3 normal (total 4). The 1 Piercing damage is dealt to the opponent first, the 3 normal damage hits the opponent’s damage prevention (which is 4). So your total damage is 1, with the other 3 being completely prevented. If you did not have that Piercing value of 1, you would not have done any damage.
