How does a tardy turn into a truant?
Students sneaking into class, hoping to escape being marked tardy, will most likely be marked absent. Without a re-admit system in place, teachers have no reason to bring an absent mark to a student’s attention. An uncleared absence turns into a truant within two days. If a student does not know he was marked absent, he will not know that he needs to deal with this situation. Sneaking certainly can cause problems, but that isn’t even the most important reason to behave appropriately. Any purposeful misrepresentation of a truth is a lie. I highly recommend that students take responsibility for being late and make sure that their teacher does not mark them absent.
