How Does a Surgical Technologist Spend a Workday?
Before Reporting To Work The beginning of the work day for a surgical technologist begins at home. Proper personal hygiene is essential before reporting for work to avoid spreading any bacteria, dead skin cells or other impurities to the patient. The surgical technologist must be clean and well groomed. This includes bathing, hair washing and trimming of fingernails. Changing Clothes After reporting to the work place, the surgical technologist must change into surgical attire before entering the operating room. This includes removing street clothes and donning a surgical scrub suit and a surgical cap to cover all hair. Shoes must also be changed or covered before entering the surgical suite.
