How does a soldier or civilian employee of the Army make an equal opportunity complaint (to include complaints of sexual harassment)?
A. If you are the victim, you may call the equal opportunity hot line at your installation to clarify whether an incident or behavior qualifies as sexual harassment or discrimination. If harassment or discrimination has occurred, you may make an informal complaint and report the inappropriate behavior, without initiating a full investigation, to your chain of command or equal opportunity office. This may be the most appropriate for minor infractions, where the victim simply wants the behavior stopped. If behavior persists, you should file a formal written complaint (DA Form 7279-R) with any of the following people or agencies: chain of command, equal opportunity advisor, inspector general, housing referral office, judge advocate general, military police or criminal investigator, chaplain or medical agency. Complaints, except those filed with the IG, must be acted upon in three calendar days. Complaints filed against a member of the chain of command will be referred to the next higher c
