Optical sensors in the SMART Pen Tray detect when a tool is lifted from the Tray and send this information to the computer. The next contact with the board will be in the chosen pen color or will erase the ink. LEDs indicate which tool is active. If more than one tool is removed from the Tray, the last tool selected will be active.
