How does a Pyrometer Work?

0

Connected to the pyrometer is a thermocouple. This thermocouple is the temperature sensor. It’s inserted into the firing chamber. The thermocouple produces a very low voltage which changes depending upon the temperature seen at the tip of the thermocouple. This voltage is applied to the pyrometer which reacts by moving or deflecting the needle or changing the digital display. It should be noted that the Pyrometer and Thermocouple do not control the kiln in any way. They don’t turn it on and they don’t turn it off. Their sole purpose is to display the temperature seen at the tip of the thermocouple.
