How does a PERS work?
When emergency help is needed in the case of a fall, fire or at the onset of illness or medical distress, the user can press the PERS transmitter’s help button (in either pendant or wristband form) and send a signal to the console. That signal also goes directly to an emergency call response center. The user is identified on the line electronically. The responder receiving the call will then try to determine the nature of the emergency by talking to the user through a 2-way voice system installed in the console. If the responder is unable to reach the user or determine whether or not an emergency exists, Emergency Services (911) or pre-selected responders will be called to the home immediately.
