How does a mini-fluorescent bulb differ from earlier generation fluorescents?
Mini-fluorescents were used in earlier generation task lights but fell out of favor when halogen bulbs were introduced. First generation “mini” or “compact” fluorescent bulbs suffered from flicker, low light and an audible hum. These objectionable characteristics have been eliminated in the current generation of mini-fluorescents and accompanying ballasts. Today’s fluorescents are long lasting and have a light output as good as, if not better than, halogen or regular incandescent bulbs.
