Depends on the certification procedure used (see item 2.4) In the “asymmetric certification” and the “symmetric certification” procedures, by matching Alice’s (the server’s) declarations on the public-MCs to her declarations on the private-MCs, according to Skywalker’s accepted risk level. In the “peer certification” procedures, by matching Alice’s (the server’s) declarations on the private-MC to the declarations on her MCC, which may involve shared secrets such as a password or pass phrase, according to Skywalker’s accepted risk level. In the “direct certification” procedures, by matching Alice’s (the server’s) declarations on her MCC with shared secrets such as a password or pass phrase, according to Skywalker’s accepted risk level.
