How does a jet engine work in a fighter aircraft?
A slightly more complicated follows the standard operation of Suck, Squeze, Bang, Blow. Air is actually SUCKed into the intake by a rotary air compresser at the heart of the engine. The compressor vanes SQUEEZE the air to high pressures where it is then mixed with fuel. The mixture is then ignited (BANG) where it is BLOWn out of the back of the engine creating thrust.
