How does a Humidex work?

0

The Humidex is a device that expels the damp, coldest air from your dwelling to the outside. The most common question asked by consumers is: “If the air is exhausted outside, do we lose any heat?” The answer is no. Since the Humidex eliminates only the damp cold air at the lowest level of your home (the basement), the potential for losing heat is low. If we go on the principle that a damp basement is harder to heat than a dry one, it’s more economical to replace that damp air with dry air and then heat it. Once the Humidex has exhausted the damp air outside and replaces it with dry air from the higher levels of your house it will run at a very low fan speed. The Humidex will exhaust a minimal amount of air in order to maintain a positive air pressure. Therefore it does not exhaust warm air and the heat is retained.
