How Does a Herpes Outbreak Occur?
With the prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), it is no wonder that diseases like herpes are seeing an increase in outbreaks. Though education abounds on how to prevent the outbreak of an STD like herpes, relaxed sexual practices have continued to spread the disease at near epidemic proportions. Herpes is a disease caused by the herpes simplex virus. There are many different ways that herpes can present itself, but most commonly herpes presents itself either on the lips and mouth, or on the genitals. This divides the herpes virus into HSV-1 (above the waist) and HSV-2 (below the waist). Herpes presents itself with blisters and sores in the area of infection. The infection presents itself as an outbreak and then usually goes into remission until flaring up again at a later time. Herpes currently has no cure.
