How Does a Group or Organization Adopt-A-Highway?
Any interested group should contact Peggy Deyton at the Union County Commissioner’s Office at 706-439-6000. KOMB “Adopt-A-Highway” Program A. KOMB Adopt-A-Highway Requirements 1. All adopting organizations must sign an Adopt-A-Highway program agreement 2. The Commissioner’s Office will have final approval of all routes adopted and approve date and time of litter pickup. ( ex: no state highways, holiday or after dark pickups) 3. Adopting organization must adopt a minimum of one mile. 4. Adopting organization must pick up litter at least once per quarter (four times a year). 5. Adopting organization must advise the Commissioner’s Office at least three days prior to litter pickup B. County Commissioner ’s Office Will Furnish: 1. All Signs 1.1 Men Working signs for day of pickup 1.2 Adopt-A-Highway Sign 1.3 Organization sign 2. Orange Safety Vests will be provided, if available, on a loan basis 3. Code Compliance Officer 3.1 To furnish information on roadside safety prior to litter pickup
