How does a Ground Source Heat Pump work?

0

The ground source heat pump consists of a long pipe filled with a mixture of water and anti freeze which is connected to a pump. The pipe is buried in the ground near to your house. Over the warmer months the soil absorbs heat from the sun and holds it all through the winter. The water solution absorbs heat as it is pumped through the ground. This heat is then transferred through a compressor into your home. Think of the pipe as collecting lots of little bits of heat from the soil and the compressor as a box cramming it together to create something hot to heat your home.
