How does a DVD disc differ from a VCD disc?
A VCD (Video CD) has about 1/6th the capacity of a DVD. Decent looking video files are very large, therefore require the larger capacity of a DVD. When a movie is put onto a VCD, the large files are compressed so much in order to fit, that the picture quality is sacrificed. Therefore, VCD picture quality is not as good (it s actually worse than VHS tape). Also, only approximately 60% of the DVD players can play a VCD.
