How does a DJ become more popular? The supporters or the media like dance magazines and websites?
OP: I’d say both although the media has a lot of power. Tiesto for eg, he’s not the best DJ in the world although he’s been voted that for the last three years. I mean, he’s amazing at what he does, but he’s not the most technical. There’s probably someone else out there who’s better and musically more intriguing than Tiesto but who’s not known. Look at Tiesto; he plays to thousands of people. When you play to such a crowd, there’s always going to be a good atmosphere, people screaming and jumping so everyone will remember what a wonderful night that is. When there are tons of people cheering the DJ, of course he’s going to be popular and gather respect from the people.
