How Does a Dialysis Treatment Center Work?

0

Dialysis centers are usually outpatient treatment centers. The dialysis center staff will explain your disease and treatment, and provide booklets and other sources of information. Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients are usually seen in separate areas and cared for by specially trained staff. If other treatments or procedures are needed, such as x-rays or minor surgery, that patient may need to go to another outpatient center or hospital. The peritoneal dialysis program, or home training program, will first train the patient to safely perform their PD treatments at home. Once they are done training the patients will be monitored during monthly visits to the PD program. They can always, of course, call their doctor or PD program should they have any questions or problems during the month.
