A CRT monitor, refered to as Cathode Ray Tube, essentially uses an electron gun, through a vacuum tube, to fire beams of light that are reflected off a fluorescent screen to produce an image. CRT monitors are not widely used today as there are many smaller, lightweight, and more efficient alternatives available such as the LCD, or Liquid Crystal Display type.
