How does a Cotton Candy Machine Work?
The cotton candy machine was first invented in 1897 by two candy makers from Tennessee. It works by placing sugar and flavoring inside the spinning head. The spinning head sits inside a large metal bowl. The sugar and flavoring is heated to 300 degrees. As it melts, the bowl spins at 3,450 rpm creating glossing strings as it spins. These strings are captured on paper cones designed to hold this special treat.
