How does a Chinook helicopter turn?

0

The Chinook turns with cyclic pitch. By increasing the lift on the blades on the left side of the forward rotor and decreasing the lift on the right side, the forward rotor plane can be tilted to the right. Opposite change can tilt the rear rotor plane to the left. With the front of the helicopter being pulled to the right and the aft being pulled left, the helicopter turns clockwise. Interestingly, to move forward, lift is increased on the rear rotor above the lift of the front rotor. This pitches the nose of the helicopter down a bit and allows the lift to have a forward component.
