How does a Certified School Counselor become a LPCC?
The LPCC law requires a minimum of a Masters degree in Counseling (School Counseling is accepted) and 60 graduate hours of course work in the 9 core areas of counseling; practica/internship experiences of at least 400 hours; passing score on the National Counselor Examination; and 4,000 hours of post degree supervised work experience with 100 hours of face-to-face, individual supervision by an approved supervisor as outlined in the LPCC law. I top 43. If I have a 33 hour (or any other number of hours below 60) masters degree in counseling, do I start obtaining my hours of post master’s experience after I complete my masters or after I complete my 60 hours in the counseling area? You may begin to obtain hours after completion of the masters degree even if it is less than a 60 hours degree.
