How does a cat/dog license help find a lost pet?

If you license your pet as regulations require, not only does it help the shelter track the number of owned animals, but it also allows the shelter to ensure that domestic pets are vaccinated against Rabies to prevent the spread of the disease. A dog/cat license also provides owner information immediately to the shelter should your pet arrive at the shelter as a lost pet wearing it’s current license. Additionally, by licensing your pet you can actually save money should your pet become lost and end up at DAS! If you claim your licensed, lost pet by the end of the second business day of impoundment at DAS – your pet can go home with you without having to pay your pet’s impound fees! Pet owners are still responsible for paying for non-fixed pets’ spay/neuter fee, but a licensed/lost pet never has to pay impound fees if claimed within two days following impoundment. Call DAS for more information at (239) 252-PETS. Get a license for your pet at DAS located at 7610 Davis Blvd. next to the B
