How does a Canadian co-operative/credit union organization join the CSS Pension Plan for its employees?
Firstly, the organization’s board of director’s must pass a resolution to apply for membership in the CSS Pension Plan. Secondly, if the co-operative or credit union is not in Saskatchewan, it must apply for limited registration under the appropriate Saskatchewan Act for the purpose of becoming a member of the CSS Pension Plan. A co-operative must complete the Letter to Saskatchewan Justice applying for limited registration for co-operatives and mail this letter and the enclosures listed thereon to Saskatchewan Justice. A credit union must complete the Letter to Saskatchewan Justice applying for limited registration for credit unions and mail this letter and the enclosures listed thereon to Saskatchewan Justice. Upon receipt of the Certificate of Limited registration from Saskatchewan Justice, the co-operative/credit union must mail a photocopy of the certificate along with a completed Employer Membership Application to the CSS Pension Plan.
