Marriage License is where your name gets changed legally. Then just change all the other papers to match. And FYI……you can change your name to anything you want – it doesn’t have to be to the Grooms name. If you don’t change it on the marriage license, you can go to court and change it any time you want but it will cost you ~ probably around $100 so do it on the marriage license – it’s cheaper. I know this is how it works in the USA, and I’m assuming that it is much the same in Canada (since we are so close and have similar laws regarding this sort of thing).
