A bar code is a series of lines, each representing a series of numbers that coincide with the product’s identification as well as it’s vendor, and other information pertinent to the product. A bar code scanner then uses LEDs to scan the code, and transmit the information to a computer able to retrieve the information on the product from a stored database.
