How does a Backflow Assembly Work?
There are numerous types of backflow preventers ranging from small hose bibb (faucet) vacuum breakers to the more sophisticated single check valve, double check valve assemblies, and reduced pressure double check valve assemblies. The principal by which they operate varies, but their only function is to prevent potentially contaminated water from flowing back into the public water supply by allowing the water to flow in only one direction.
