How Do You Write Poetry On Nature?
Every poet has an eye for what most people miss. William Shakespeare said in Act II, scene I of As You Like It, that ‘this our life, exempt from public haunt, /Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, /Sermons in stones, and good in everything.’ As a poet writing for nature, it is your duty to turn the power of nature into a powerful thought or description. KNOW WHAT THE SCENE TELLS YOU Every scene in the woods, by the beach or on top of mountains has differing meanings to different people. Write down how you feel. Become one with the scene that captures you. Determine to be the poet who best described this scene. FIND YOUR OWN STYLE OF EXPRESSING YOURSELF Remember not to copy anybody’s style. Poetry is about originality. Feel free to writing in a manner you are comfortable with. You can choose to write prose poems or write haiku.
