How Do You Write Decent Fanfiction?
• Know the book/game/movie you’re using like the back of your hand, and keep established characters in character. • Have a logical reason or explanation ready if you decide to have something bizarre for the universe you are writing in occur (i.e, a dead character reappears, a character from one universe pops up in another). • Be as original as possible, even though you’re writing fanfiction. Write from the perspective of a neglected character or create a new location for the story. Write a sequel to the original story. Have a core of originality that makes your fanfiction unique. • Remember, it’s your fanfiction-do what you want with it. Write for yourself, not to please others. • Keep your own characters self consistent and consistent with the rest of the plot.
