How Do You Write An Effective Room Mom Letter?
As a Room Mom or Parent there are plenty of opportunities to write to the parents. Here are some tips so you WILL hear back from them. INTRODUCTIONS FIRST! Start out introducing yourself and include your student’s name, for example, AKA “Sarah’s Mom. SHOW EXCITEMENT! Include that you are looking forward to planning their children’s celebrations. ASK FOR HELP! If you are writing at the start of the school year, ask for helpers and give a date for a special coffee meeting with them. PLAN! Talk about time frame you are planning. Plan large portions of the year at a time. This will cut down on the number of letters you will have to send out. GIVE A DEADLINE! Ask for information to be returned by a certain date or ASAP. COMMUNICATE! Give your contact information and ask for theirs. USE A FORM! Do a cut and return form. Put your note at the top and a form where they indicate what activities they want to help with for approximately ½ of the school year. The form is best in a checklist format.
