How Do You Write A Song For A Guitar?

0

“Hello, my name is James Manuele. I’m a guitar instructor here in Vancouver, Washington and today we will discuss how to write a song for the guitar. What you need of course is a guitar. You can use different methods to write for the guitar. There are several different programs out there today to compose for the instrument. Personally, I like the more direct approach; hands-on the instrument. I approach the guitar when I write a song harmonically. So, I would choose a key that I prefer and then start playing the chords that are in the key. This way the guitar can be, of course, every polyphonic instrument, but it’s also well, more well known as a harmonic instrument for chords. So, when you write a song, typically a pop song or a folk song, you will use chords to accompany the melody. So, I would choose a key to write a song in; sometimes I embellish, embellish some of the chords to make it more interesting and more color and choose chords that belong in the key and work well together.
