How do you write a poem expressing emotions without actually saying the emotion?

I just wrote a poem that expressed irritation or annoyance, and i didn’t even say either of those words once in my poem for school. The way you are to express the emotion is through word choice. This can be by using figurative language: metaphors, smilies, and personification. So, for example. If the emotion i was to express was scared i would use, Metaphor– My face is snow Smilie– My eyes were as wide and big as the ocean. Personification– Air was rushing by me yelling in my face. Another example…emotion: joy Metaphor– My mouth is a crescent moon Smilie– My body was jumping up and down like a frog jumping from lily pad to lily pad. Personification– The sun was singing bright and cheery songs down upon my face.
