A marketing plan outlines a strategy for marketing and advertising a product in a particular area. Marketing to a college audience requires awareness of where college students gather, what they spend their time doing and what piques their interests. A college marketing plan involves a particular focus on the life of a college student, requiring extensive research about student groups. The effort to market to college students, however, can be very rewarding. College students have a lot of influence over their peers’ buying habits and their views of a product. Write a brief mission statement that outlines what you are selling, where you are selling it and what your marketing goals are. Name the specific college(s) that you are targeting. Research the college(s) that you are targeting. Locate any student groups that are of interest and identify popular areas on campus where they gather. If you hope to market directly through the college campus, identify the people in charge of marketing.
