“And your assignment is to write a book report….” Those hated words from the mouth of a teacher can send chills down the spine of any child. But writing a book report is really not a difficult task. The hardest part is actually reading the book! Keep in mind these few easy steps while reading the story, and your assignment will be a breeze. Title your book report. Make sure you put the name of the book and the author’s name on the first line. For example, title your report “A book report on ‘Tom Sawyer’ by Mark Twain.” The second line of the report should be your name (you want to make sure you get credit for it!) and the date. Be sure to follow your teacher’s guidelines, as they may be different from this example. Write a short summary about the book. Pretend that you are describing the story to a friend.
