How Do You Work With Child Behavior From Asperger Syndrome?
If you are a parent, teacher or a therapist to a child who has Asperger Syndrome, then you can relate to how unique and sometimes challenging their child behavior may be. For sure, it takes a lot of patience to work with the child behavior in those who have Asperger syndrome, which is known as a form of high functioning Autism; but here are some things I have learned while working with those behaviors and in how to positively develop an Aspergers social skills. Provide individual attention to a child with Asperger’s Syndrome, as they require constant guidance to complete tasks and expectations. This may mean finding a way that the child can best understand the request with direction to complete each step in order to stay on task. Be patient toward difficult child behaviors, such as refusal to follow instructions, misguided behavior or tantrums (often referred to as meltdowns).
