How Do You Wire Motion Lights Inside?
Lights with motion sensors, or motion detectors, have long been the standard for outdoor security lighting, offering improved energy efficiency (compared with leaving the lights on all night) and the added element of surprise to alarm would-be intruders. Indoors, motion sensors are all about convenience and saving energy. There’s no need to hunt for the switch upon entering a dark room, and you never have to turn off the switch when your hands are full—when no one’s in the room, the light turns off automatically after a preset time delay. You can add motion-sensor lighting indoors by installing battery-powered LED fixtures (good for closets, pantries and other utility areas), by screwing a motion-sensor fitting into any standard fixture socket (the light bulb screws right into the motion sensor), or by replacing standard wall switches with motion-sensor switches, as described here. Turn off the power to the switch’s circuit at the home’s service panel (breaker box). Remove the switch
