How Do You Wire A Wall Switch Receptacle?
Wall switch/receptacle combinations are useful in places with insufficient numbers of receptacles. As its name implies, a switch/receptacle is a combination of a single receptacle outlet with a switch taking the place of the second outlet. The combination is substituted for a wall switch, which allows you to add a receptacle without making additional cuts in the walls and running more copper wire. Switch/receptacle combinations also allow you the option of controlling the outlet through the switch. Turn off the power to the circuit you will be working on. Remove the single-pole light switch from its box and disconnect the wires attached to its terminals, using the screwdriver. Note which black wire leads to the fixture the switch controls.
