Line voltage thermostats work the same way as their low voltage counterparts do except for one key factor. Line voltage thermostats use 110 volts of power (regular house current), while low voltage thermostats use 24 volts of power. Turn off the power to the circuit that powers the line voltage thermostat. Usually the thermostat is provided power from the heater, so the circuit breaker will probably be labeled for the heater it serves. Remove the thermostat cover and make the electrical connections.
