How Do You Wire A Light Switch & An Electrical Outlet?

0

Wiring an outlet to a light switch will allow you to control power to the outlet from the switch. Once connected you will be able to turn on or off lights or other devices with the simple flip of a switch. Simply wiring the outlet to an existing wall switch and making a few connections will wrap up the project. Turn the power off to the existing wall switch at the main service panel. Locate the area where the outlet will be installed. Measure up from the floor 18 inches and make a mark. Line up the bottom of the outlet box with the mark and trace the outline of the box onto the wall. Cut out the shape. Twist out one of the knockout holes in the back side of the electrical box, using the screwdriver. Insert the box into the hole in the wall and secure it in place using the included screws in the kit. Drill a hole into the wall top plate directly over the location of the outlet. Drill the hole from the attic location. Run a metal fish tape down the wall and have an assistant pull it out
