One of the best features of a Gibson guitar is its three-way toggle switch. Les Paul opted for the three-way switch over the traditional five-way switch due to it’s simplistic construction and functionality on a two pickup guitar. Cut a piece of shielded 4-conductor wire to an approximate length of twelve inches. This will be the lead wire that connects the toggle switch to the control harness located in the electronics cavity in the back of your Gibson. Trim approximately two inches of the plastic coating away from the lead wire. This should expose the braided ground wire and the 4-conductor wires. You should now have a total of four colored wires and one steel-braded ground wire exposed on each end of the lead wire. Trim one half of an inch of insulation from each of the color coded wires on both ends of the lead wire. These ends should then be twisted to allow for easier soldering.
