How Do You Wire A GFCI With A Switch?
When remodeling or upgrading a kitchen or bathroom, you may have to replace a regular receptacle with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) to come up to code. If you are adding a new switched device, such as recessed lighting under a cabinet, you also have to add a switch. Rather than cutting a hole in the wall to add a larger box, you can install a GFCI combination outlet. These combination outlets are the same size as a regular receptacle with a switch on top and a single GFCI outlet on the bottom. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker.
