Accessory sockets can provide power for useful things such as GPS, heated riding suits and even a truly windproof lighter. The wires that feed the accessory socket must be sized to carry the power draw of the device that is intended to be used with it. Mount the accessory socket in the desired location. Attach it with the mounting kit included with the socket. Try to position it so that it will be sheltered from direct rainfall at rest and while driving. Remove the fuel tank mountings bolts with a socket and ratchet, then elevate the fuel tank slightly to expose the backbone of the frame. Block the tank up with a wood block, wedge or wad of clean shop rags. Lay the red and black wires from the battery terminals along the main wiring harness to the accessory socket.
