How Do You Wire 2 12 Volt Batteries In Parallel?
There are essentially two different and distinct ways to wire 12 volt batteries. One of the ways is called wiring in sequence, and the other way is called wiring in parallel. When batteries are wired in parallel it raises the overall amperage, which basically means that it will increase the running time of the electrical appliance, but it keeps the voltage exactly the same. Although there are other uses for 12 volt applications, the most common form of 12 volt battery usage is in starting and maintaining the electrical systems of internal combustion engines. Set your batteries together on a table or floor, putting them together in a back to front layout, just like they would be on a shelf in a store display. Strip the wires from each end of your cables, about 1/2 an inch, with a wire stripper. If you are using pre-made cables, go to the next step. Attach a cable between the positive leads by securing the bare wire to the post using a preferred battery clamp, but a hose clamp will work.
