How Do You Whip The Golf Club Shaft Through The Shot?
In a good golf club swing, all the mechanics work together to flow naturally through the swing and create a whipping motion at impact through the ball. This practice drill helps you get the relaxed feel and motion to improve your swing. Here’s how to do it. Practice with a shaft with no club head on it or use one of your clubs and hold it upside down just ahead of the club head. Starting with an unweighted shaft first will help you learn the whipping motion without having to think about controlling the club head. Don’t worry about mechanics in this drill but concentrate on the feeling of whipping the club. Take a relaxed stance and relax your arms and body. Hold the shaft loosely and begin swinging it as if you’re hitting a ball. The shaft should not touch the ground during this exercise.
