Decora is a Japanese street fashion, shortened from the word ‘decoration’. It’s highly colorful, and involves several layers and accessories. However, if you are interested in wearing it on a daily basis to school, it’s best to tone it down a little bit, and follow these rules. • Read over your school dress code and examine the rules. Is there anything against something you would like to wear? Unfortunately, you’ll have to drop it. • Examine your schedule. Would several layers and accessories be a burden? For example, it’s not a good idea to wear decora in gym or sports. • Ask your teachers or principal if you have any questions – it’s better to be safe than sorry! • Respond nicely to those who question the fashion. You can simply say “it’s a Japanese street fashion I am very interested in” if you don’t know how to respond. Once you have arrived at school in your decora outfit, follow your teacher’s orders if they want you to remove anything.
