How Do You Wear A Cervical Collar While Sleeping?
Neck and back injuries are not something to think lightly about especially when you end up wearing a back or cervical collar. You end up tossing and turning around all night in order to get some sleep. Being a nurse, and dealing with cervical collars on a daily basis gives me some insight on how patients can sleep with one of these most uncomfortable things on. Sleep in a chair. This may not seem like the most comfortable way of sleeping. I am not saying to sleep in a straight back chair. Choose one that can recline a little bit but also keeps your neck straight. Use pillows. Don’t use too many pillows behind your neck. You wouldn’t want to increase your chances of injuring your neck more. Check with your doctor and see if you can use a soft collar while in bed. Soft collars are least restrictive than those harder ones that you have to wear during the day. You just have to remember to keep you neck stretching to the minimum since you will not have that constricted collar on while in be
