Wood flooring is a beautiful option for your home. However, those who have wood flooring know that over time it can loose its luster and shine. This doesn’t have to be the case. If you have a wood floor that has been ignored for a while, a good wax and buff will make it look like the day it was installed. Because you will be applying wax, you will want to clean your floor thoroughly so the wax doesn’t trap dirt and dust on your floor. Dirt and dust also can scratch your floor as you buff it. Sweep or vacuum completely and mop with a damp cloth. Do not use too much water, as it can damage your wood flooring. Be sure that the floor is dry before waxing or buffing it. After your flooring is free of dirt, you can begin applying a paste wax. Apply a thin layer of wax with a soft cotton cloth. Once the wax has been applied, it will be ready for buffing.
