How Do You Water Italian Cypress Trees?
Italian Cypress trees are a uniquely elegant type of tall, columnar, evergreen trees. Reminiscent of the hills of Tuscany, these trees grow just about anywhere despite being endemic to Southern Europe and Western Asia. Once they become established in a location, Italian Cypress trees require little in the way of watering. Water the roots twice each week for the first several months after planting. Watering is done by placing a running hose at the base of the tree. Allow a slow to medium flow of water to run for about 15 minutes. Measure the moisture depth of the soil using a stick as the tree continues to grow. Push the stick straight down into the soil around the base of the tree and retrieve it to determine moisture depth. Water the tree when the moisture level of the surrounding soil is more than ten inches below the surface. Water on occasion once the Cypress tree is established.
