How Do You Wash Fixed Single Hung Windows?
Fixed single-hung windows are not the most common residential type of window as these windows cannot be opened. This fixed feature means that, although the windows provide light to a room, they won’t provide fresh air. It also means that if you want to clean these windows thoroughly, you’ll have to make an extra trip outdoors to clean the outside. Aside from that, these windows are no more difficult to clean than any other single-hung window. Bring your supplies outdoors. Brush dirt off the frames with a hand broom or a soft-bristled brush. If the frames are very dirty and the dirt won’t come off this way, use a damp, soapy cloth to gently wipe them down. Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands from glass cleaner. Spray window glass cleaner generously over the glass. If your windows are coated and/or tinted, use only a cleaner recommended by the glass coating manufacturer (some coatings are sensitive to ammonia).
