How Do You Visit The Tate Gallery?
The Tate Gallery is actually a series of four different art galleries in England. Tate Britain, the oldest one, opened in 1897 in London and was the only one for almost a century. Starting in 1988, three other galleries opened: Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives and Tate Modern. Visit between October and January to see the winners (and finalists) of the Tuner Prize, an art competition organized and funded by the Tate Galleries. Don’t take your eyes off the wall. Art is everywhere at the Tate, including staircases, landings, the foyer and other small areas around the museum. Stay after hours for one of the special Tate Late evenings, the first Friday of every month. The special event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and features a mix of live music, films and drinks. Take the Tate Boat Service, which takes you from the Tate Britain to the London Eye to the Tate Modern. The trip is inexpensive and the boat runs everyday during regular gallery hours. Visit the outdoor exhibits, held at the museum gr
