Situated on Central Park, the Met is the perfect place to begin your tour of New York. In order to really see the Met, you need several week–most New Yorkers haven’t seen all there is to see at the Met–but for the tourist on a time budget here’s the best way to get the most of the Met in only on day. Get there early and beat the rush! The museum opens at 9:30am everyday and closes at 5:30pm Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday. You have the luxury of a late closure on the weekends; Fridays and Saturdays are open until 9pm. Make sure that your visit doesn’t fall on a day when the museum is closed. The museum is closed on January 1st, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
